Trippki caters to both the new traveller and the experienced traveller, offering a user-friendly hotel booking portal where users have access to 1.6m hotels globally at competitive prices through Trippki.com.
Trippki is one of the first travel companies to accept cryptocurrencies as a means of payment for hotels. This is exciting considering the growth at which Bitcoin wallets are being created year on year. Then, of course, there are frequent travellers, business travellers, and the ever-expanding digital nomads who travel the world and collaborate on exciting open source technologies such as the Blockchain.
With Blockchain technology, we are able to leverage the commission we earn from every booking and convert this into Bitcoin satoshis/hotel credits which we can reward back to the user for every booking they make.
The users can either hold as a store of value, transfer or trade with complete freedom or spend within our travel ecosystem against future bookings. Users can earn more rewards through writing reviews or sharing experiences on social media, thus growing the network effect.
Unlike many other blockchain and cryptocurrency projects, Trippki is underpinned with a viable, high-growth travel business that functions using conventional fiat currency payment. Trippki is therefore not susceptible or negatively exposed to the volatility of cryptocurrencies or the user experience issues that have kept blockchain projects from mass adoption so far.
Hotel bookings through OTAs (Online Travel Agents) have become increasingly centralised and are now dominated by three players, Priceline Group, Expedia and C-Trip, who between them account for over 80% of the OTA market. It is expected by 2020 that these groups will control 94% of the OTA market. While on the surface they provide convenient aggregation portals, in truth they distort the free market in travel accommodation. This results in a sub-optimal marketplace with low margins, high commissions, low customer retention and difficulty in reaching new customers.
The Problem & The TRIPPKI Solution
The hotel industry is dominated by a small number of companies. Users don’t see the best deals or get sufficiently rewarded for their loyalty. Reviews can be untrustworthy and not accurate.
Customer bookings through Trippki’s standard booking platform receive up to 5% of the total booking cost/invoice back in the form of Bitcoin (BTC) Satoshi rewards. As with any reward or loyalty programme they can keep them to build up their holdings or redeem them through the platform against future discounts.
Explainer - Each Bitcoin is equal to 100 million Satoshis, making a Satoshi the smallest unit of Bitcoin. Think of the Satoshi as the “cents” part of Bitcoin.
