The craft beer movement is taking the UK and the world by storm, and with this comes a new opportunity – to develop delicious tasting yet non-alcoholic craft beer alternatives for a growing number of people choosing to go alcohol-free.

For too long non-alcoholic beer has been perceived as a poor cousin to regular beer: dull, tasteless and lacking in variety. Yet demand for beers of this kind is increasing rapidly in Britain and around the world: according to Euromonitor, its global value will have risen by 26% between 2013 and 2018, the largest growth of any sector in the beer industry.

Building on my sales, marketing and product development achievements in this sector, Nirvana (the trading name of Copper Tun Ltd) aim to create something completely unique: Low/Alcohol free Beers, beers with all the artisan credentials of what makes a great craft beer. Hops, Barley, all locally sourced and a final product that is not only free of alcohol but also free of gluten (suitable for Celiacs) but with rich with flavour.

The sales potential of our beers is huge, as we will be providing a real alternative for those that enjoy quality craft beer but cannot (designated drivers, carers, etc) or those of us who now choose not to drink alcohol due to health reason or due to Religious faiths – a market that we feel has not yet been capitalised on. Whatever a person’s reason for choosing alcohol-free beer, research shows growth in this sector of the beer industry.

Nirvana will use tried and tested recipes to create it's range of beers that will include popular beers styles like IPA, Stout and Craft Lager using innovative new brewing equipment to achieve quality Low/Alcohol free beers- establishing itself as a creditable brand – albeit with an independent spirit – that is able to provide a real alternative to the bland Non Alcoholic beers that currently dominate the market.

Aside from developing the overall strategy, brand identity and business plan, to date we have spent time sourcing the innovative equipment we need to produce the beers – and we believe to be the only brewery in the UK that will house such equipment – and developing the recipes. We recently were able to create a small batch of sample bottles of our IPA and Stout both 0.0% ABV and the feedback among the drinkers our target market was overwhelmingly positive.

The next stage of our plan is to start brewing our beers and selling them initially into pubs, bars and bottle shops local to our London base. Once this has been achieved we will reach out to national and international distributors and target supermarkets, who we believe will see the mass-market appeal of strongly branded low/non-alcoholic beers. We will supplement these sales by setting up an online shop, which will allow us to sell to consumers direct. An integrated PR campaign and sophisticated social media and SEO techniques will complement our sales strategy.
